Security Edition includes all new Password Support. Also, it includes: a new default GUI, 3 other GUIs, a new Black Eagle GUI, and documentation on how to make your own GUIs, as well as the ability to show the amount of ROM free. Black Eagle Shell allows you to Archive, Unarchive, Lock, Unlock, Run, or Delete programs on your calculator. Black Eagle Shell can Hibernate, Turn off your calc, Compile ASM programs, it has a screen saver, Info screen, it can run external GUIs in RAM or ROM, show the amount of free RAM and ROM, Enable/Disable Lowercase, Toggle the run indicator, and inverse text. It features awesome graphics and Graphical User Interfaces. Black Eagle Shell is one of the, if not the, best BASIC shell so far. It is up to you to decide. What makes it so much better is that it has the ability to tell you wether the programs are archived or locked and has so many useful features. Most BASIC shells don't have this. I am confident that it will give any other BASIC shell a run for its money. Check out the screen shots. (It cannot run Ion programs or Mirage OS programs. Read the readme for more info.)

There is no doubt the best version of “Black Eagle Shell” yet. It now has password support. This definitely enhances this program. Sure, anyone with enough knowledge can break (actually delete) the password, but this can also be done with any password protected software.
This program is very easy to use and operate. I don't think I would change anything about it except for make it into ASM. Also, it would be better if it was “Ion” and “MirageOS” compatible. However, I don't believe this is possible in BASIC.
If this was in ASM, it would definitely give “MirageOS” some competition. (although I have nothing against “MirageOS”). This program is original, especially because it is the first BASIC Shell to allow for Graphical User Interfaces. Also, it is the first BASIC Shell I have seen that tells you whether the program is archived or locked.
I would recommend this program to anyone wanting to see a great BASIC shell in the form of an application.
Here are my ratings:
-Usage: 9.5 (Incompatibility with programs that need a shell)
-Graphics: 10 (Awesome!)
-Gameplay: 10 (Not a game though)
-Controls: 10 (Well documented)
-Overall : 9.785/10 (You should download, at least to play with, especially since this is a BASIC Shell) |
