Paper clutter is not a friendly thing. However, when I need to drive someplace I’ve never been to before, the clutter comes to haunt me. Three pages of “MapQuest” directions come out of my printer, sit around on my desk until I’m ready to embark, and follow me to my destination and back home. It would be nice if there were some sort of alternative to this process.

Who knew it would be for my TI-89?

Thanks to Joey Gannon, people who have the “TICT Ebook Reader” on their 68K calcs have a new way of getting places thanks to “Map2Go.” The interface is very simple: You go to “MapQuest,” put in the data you need in order to obtain your directions, run the file “map2go.exe,” and copy the URL into the program. The program outputs two files, one for the 89 and one for the 92s, which can be transferred to each calculator. Finally, all you have to do is run “EBook Reader,” and your directions are on your calculator!

“Map2Go” is a very clever way of storing and using directions without flipping through papers. Even if people may say things to you about using a calculator for directions, don’t let that deter you from trying “Map2Go.” It’s ease of use and ability to allow you to store many directions to places makes it a very valuable program to have on your calculator. If you have a 68K calc and use or drive a car, you should seriously consider using “Map2Go.”
